Saaf India foundation
Shammy Jacob (Dutch, 1965) is Founding Participant at THNK, the Amsterdam School of Creative Leadership. He started the Saaf India Foundation with a team of fellow THNK participants in 2012. He envisions a cleaner India, with a culture of respect for common spaces and the natural environment. Saaf India's first project is Saaf Train, using the Indian Railways as a platform for inspiration and innovation to inspire Indians to respect common spaces with respect to trash. He is also the founder and director of New World Fight Club, an experienced and multidisciplinary network of vanguard professionals combining both business and sustainability skills, providing sustainable solutions to new world business challenges, and helping companies to align sustainability into the DNA of their core business.

Shammy started his career in Apparel Management and Production in India and Indonesia. In 1997 he joined Nike as Development Manager and subsequently Operations Director and Merchandise Manager for the EMEA region. In 2008 he became Nike’s Director of Sustainable Ventures, providing direction, innovation and inspiration to the leadership team, and managing strategic development, creation and execution of integrated climate change strategies.

Shammy holds a BE with Hons in Mechanical Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science, and a post graduate degree in Garment Manufacturing Technology from the National Institute of Fashion Technology.

Shammy enjoys running, biking, traveling and music. He lives in Amsterdam with his wife Lot and two sons.
